Hi, we're Remy and Amber, the two people behind Sharelet Space. Before this was ever a company, it was just our own problem. We both know what it feels like to need a place to live and not be able to trust a single listing in front of you.

Amber went through it looking for a room, where the photos never matched what actually showed up, and where a “landlord” wanted a deposit sent before she had even seen the front door. Remy went through it from the other side of the same wall, moving to a new city with hardly anyone to vouch for him, getting passed over again and again because there was no simple way to prove he was a good, reliable person to rent to.

We kept hitting the same thing. The person renting can't tell who is real, and the person searching can't prove that they are. Every single time, your money and your safety came down to a leap of faith with a stranger. And it hit us that what was missing from shared housing was never more listings. It was trust.

So we built the thing we wish we'd had. A place where everyone is verified before they can host or move in. Where your deposit is held safely in the middle instead of handed to someone you have never met. And where being a good renter finally counts for something you can carry with you to the next place. We didn't make this to chase a trend or flip it for a payday. We made it because we lived the stress of it, and we wanted something better for the people standing exactly where we once stood.

We're a small, independent team, and we're still early. We would rather tell you that honestly than pretend to be bigger than we are. What we can promise is that every choice we make starts with one question: does this make housing safer and fairer for the person on the other side of the screen? For a long time, that person was us.
